Skin cancer can also occur in areas of the skin that are not normally exposed to sunlight. Genetic descent can play a role in this.
Anyone can suffer from skin cancer, regardless of their skin color. You should be careful if you:
- have lots of moles
- have a family history of melanoma
- work outdoors, under long periods of exposure to sunlight
- have a history of experiencing sunburn, especially skin peeling after severe sunburn
- has sensitive skin that is flammable and does not change color to tanned
- have red or blond hair with bright eye color
- have a weakened immune system due to HIV / AIDS or after an organ transplant
- have very sensitive skin, such as newly burned, wounded or weak skin due to the treatment of other skin conditions, such as psoriasis treatment and certain eczema creams
- are exposed to toxic chemicals constantly
