What Causes Skin Cancer?
What Causes Skin Cancer?
Skin cancer is mainly caused by exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or other sources such as tanning machines in the solarium. UV light is divided into three different wavelength bands: UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVB rays are the cause of basal cell cancer and squamous cell cancer. UVA is also a cause of skin cancer, especially melanoma. Tanning beds send UVA at high doses and may increase the risk of melanoma.Damage caused by UV rays that accumulate over time.
Prolonged exposure to sunlight for years will cause damage to skin tissue, even without the need to burn the skin. Research shows that the destruction of skin cells due to the sun can start from childhood. Individuals who continue to receive excessive sun exposure without adequate protection in adulthood can cause damage to skin cells and cause skin cancer.
Skin cancer can also occur in areas of the skin that are not normally exposed to sunlight. Genetic descent can play a role in this.
